>>18682468The new few hours are a blur in the haze of adrenaline crashing down. Colby Jefferson remembers a tight, emotional hug from Amy Flame, and making her way out of the arena and back to the mansion. Amy drives; Colby doesn't think she could manage it right now. In a dreamlike haze, Colby returns to the mansion. She doesn't remember seeing Priscilla and Nikki there, though of course they'll have feelings about what happened tonight. There will be time to talk about that, and what it means for the future, later. What it means right now is that Colby has fought off the Devil, at least for one night. Moving through force of habit, she sets her phone down on the dresser, sees to her basic needs of hygiene, and climbs into her bed.
Despite the pain of the match's exertions and injuries throughout her body, Colby feels safe and happy, and when her head falls upon her soft pillow, she doesn't hesitate to let the exhaustion that had built and built again upon her over these harrowing weeks carry her off to slumber. The last of her strength was expended in the grueling match she's come from, and it brings a precious bit of comfort to her to know that it was not in vain. For now, she has won.
For the first time since at least Sapphire's death, Colby Jefferson gets a good night's sleep.
