The prices reflect the same structure from the Inca Empire, it hasn't changed.
Llama wool = The cheapest
Alpaca wool = More expensive
Vicuña wool = One of the finest and most expensive wools in the world, Inca royalty dressed in vicuña wool, and it's still expensive as fuck today.
tl;dr - Alpaca wool is a fad and not very expensive. Vicuña wool is the elite fabric.
