>>19464674yes, if you look at a glycemic index chart for diabetics, you will notice that ice cream is ok because it is basically frozen fat mixed with sugar. all of that fat compensates for the blood sugar spike. there is also a concept of slow carbs, or reheated carbs really. apparently the blood sugar spike is attenuated by the cooling and reheating somehow. basically my point is that there is no real need to be a purist unless you have a ton of weight to lose. i personally don't get sugar cravings anymore because they were in response to a blood sugar crash. smoking, which i don't do anymore, messes it up too because the body treats nicotine the same way as sugar in some respects. that's why smokers lost weight and you have sugar cravings when you quit.
