You dont need a telescope to see them, so long as you have 20/20 vision all you need to do is leave your city where theres tons of light polution. picrel is a video my buddy took through a PVS-14. note that it doesnt travel in a straight line. This is what satellites look like. but you dont need night vision to see them, many reflect the sun and are very bright and visible.

You could see an even smaller object than a car if it reflected enough light. many satellites are made of shiny material.
