>>13925670well most groups struggle to find one person who wants to DM in the first place, so they don't have the fortune of going round robin with it. when one person has control they seem to think they'll manage some tolkien-esque grand adventure over the course of 2 years. it's not impossible of course but having shorter, more "gimmicky" stories that don't rely on some massive overarching narrative makes it so much easier to keep things interesting for the players week to week.
had far too many sessions in my life that are essentially 4 hours of housekeeping because that's necessary when you're following a single story with multiple open threads for months at a time
i thought i might have to when i got the new graphics card but fortunately i was thinking forward in this respect. are power supplies very expensive nowadays?
