Abrahamic religions, as well as the Vedic/Hindu religions which preceded the Buddha, better understood the actual worldly dynamics and how they can be best ordered to facilitate enlightening and benficial conditions in this world.
Buddhism really is just the result of a rebellious and privileged, relatively young, man losing his mind over the fact of Death, and eschewing the traditions of his elders, within a context that presumed reincarnation. In the West, this exact archetype of young man continues to be drawn to Buddhism, but unfortunately under the illusion that the goal of Buddhism is freedom, peace, happiness, or focus, in any sense intelligible to or apparently useful for us.
