Italy is a fairly traditional country and prone to respect traditional gender roles. Not that my type is seen in a better light anywhere else. Of course frailty is seen as an attractive trait for the opposite gender, but meek guys are seen as losers and trash all over the world. Why should I care about a world that rejects us?
