You're conflatuin stuff that's impossible (time travel, teleportation, shooting fireballs, etc) and stuff that is Magick but you just don't think is possible or worth it (controlling people, inflicting mass psychological damage, ensuring success/failure).
Many of the people that practice occulted rituals/Mystery Religions do the latter and consider it Magick.
