>>16556769This might be a hot take but Christianity is the reason why I hate the Romans. Classical Greece was so much more based and they were much better at warfare. The Greeks conquered the Persians while the Romans lost to them and had one of their Emperors captured and used as a footstool by the Persian King.
The Seleucids were also in a process of banning Judaism and forcefully assimilating the Jews, but of course, Rome had to step in, ally with the Maccabees and give the Jews religious freedom and autonomy. Even though everybody in the classical world disliked the Jews and saw them as a people who despite all nations, they let them live since they didn't see them as a threat. I bet the Romans didn't expect the religion of the Jews to take over their empire.
I also hate the Romans for their brutality against the Germanic people. But the moment the Germanic people learned cavalry warfare from the Huns, the Romans started getting utterly defeated by the Germanic people and all their lands were successfully invaded by them.
