>>12231213>Citing 1st Corinthians 1:27-29Those verses are about Man's pride. Pride is foolishness to a man of understanding. And these verses highlight just what God has done with Men. He chose the base things, the ugly things, the foolish and weak things, and the things which are despised to confound the things which are mighty and wise. To what end? "That no flesh should glory in His presence." It was done to bring a Man in his pride down from his high horse. This way, a man who stands in Heaven cannot say "I am granted access to Heaven because I was great in my days. Those who perish and go to flame did not live as well as I did."
In choosing the things which are ugly and despised, no Man will be able to say that he entered Heaven on his own merit. The weak and ugly were chosen to humble the beautiful and the wise. Men have an abundance of pride. There is no denying this. Therefore, anything that assaults their pride is considered a threat. Truly, a Man's pride is his own enemy. His ego will not permit him to live peacefully. He is always troubled by it.
