There are multiple tissues of scandal in this story, and at the core of it is the project in New Mexico known as Green Door.
It's very hard to convince anyone that such a thing as Green Door could even exist, it's too easy to write it off as fiction because of the sheer volume of sci-fi written around the subject of time travel in any of its forms.
