Even The Apostles had to admonish people in their letters from following them specifically instead of Christ. This is not evidence of "different sects" instead this is evidence that the Apostles were aware of and constantly ensuring the unity of the faith of the One Church. Your position is not even roman catholic either, they wouldn't hold that the Church was ever fragmented. It's just your opinion.
