If it only came down to Deities then he wouldn't be wrong to argue what he's arguing. But Deities are countable gods (g) that may or may not exist whereas Divinity is the uncountable God (G) that is existence itself. Atheism in the truest sense of the word is a denial of Divinity and thus of genuine existence.
