judoka by far has the most ways to just toss shit around wherever you want it which is why it's the goat even if it's arguably a bit harder to play. the fire squad is probably better since it also has good control with significantly more damage, but it's not quite as fun imo.
most of the squads are worth trying i'd say. they're all pretty gimmicky but that's mostly a good thing. i've beaten the game with them all including the secret all achievements squad and the only ones i remember particularly disliking were the unstable mechs and the secret one ironically enough
not sure i ever even beat FTL on easy, i just sucked major ass at that game. barely ever even got to the flagship
