If you follow those lines, the westerners would have just hit more and more lush beautiful land, while the easterners would have had a hard sandy time until they reached... Kyrzgzstan and Islamabad, and then been forced south toward the equator. (With the heartier more warlike Tartars pushing north through Georgia, eventually to run back into what became the Norse to the left and the Mongols to the right.) Everything just falls into place.
The two-headed eagle symbology seems to indicate this idea too.
