If the temple existed there would definitely be more animal sacrifices. The ritual involving Christ was special in that it was a sin offering over the entire assembly. These atoning rituals are not unique in the bible. They're uncommon, and God directly tasks his people through their prophets to do it. Christ is unique in that his ritual would be played out through destiny in a plan that he and the Father Almighty only knew up until he disclosed it to the disciples.
