Set up a workshop
Set up a manager and a bookkeeper
The principle, that every object has to be made of a material
Set up an underground farm
Set up repeating automated jobs with your manager
Set up a bridge connected to a lever, to completely close your castle
And then you should have a functioning castle.
That is the bar-minimum which you need.
