I keep in mind the world "principalities" from that passage because it lets us know that the dark entities, no matter how powerful, follow a chain of command. Praying for them, forgiving them and/or them picking up the sword to destroy them should be done knowing that they have a boss and are doing what they have been told. Tell them to tell their boss that you will strike them down too because your soul has been washed in the blood of Christ and even the evil one himself trembles at the name Christ Jesus.
