Leatherman was in the wrong for several reasons. First off he was defying the clear cut social norms by wearing fetish gear to a gym, he had mistaken said gym for a leather club, and then lashed out at Billy after he had tried to be helpful and show Leatherman the right way to the leather club before he was ridiculed by the other gym patrons.
