sure, housing in bangkok's a bit cheaper than london, but not by much. maybe a 30% discount from canary wharf.
but you get slaughtered on car prices, consumer goods, food, and everything else. prices are substantially higher than western europe for heaps of things.
thailand hasn't been "cheap" for 20+ years.
