To have the heroes lose so badly that they are forced to destroy the afflicted multiverse as if it is a wound to cauterise before the rest of time is corrupted is a great sacrifice, from which they never recover, or undo, unlike in every other arc's ending. Barely any stories in all of recent fiction have this sort of development.
Damn, Dragonball Super is such a MASTERPIECE.
