American culture is hard to pinpoint. The original idea of America as far as I understood it, was to be able to govern itself. They wished to have the power to make decisions for their own selves while having their own voice from Britain. That is the original idea that gave way to us. In a way, you could argue that is still somewhat relevant to a stronger degree. The states all try to handle themselves differently. The states in of itself is like its own country. The time you spent in Nevada is going to be different than your time in Maine. Likewise we have our liberal shit holes and our conservative shit holes. This idea might have been what led to the multitude of subcultures. There is so many differences in every neighborhood, in every town, in every city, and in every state. It's hard to call it American culture when there is even culture differences so deep as to South California and Northern California. I like my country, in this land I feel more chances of complete and utter acceptance than I do other countries. I know I can never blend in and feel anything other than a outsider. Meanwhile here I know that I can find a way to make it work somehow.
