>>13205234Jumala valitsee rajallisen määrän uskollisia kristittyjä, jotka saavat kuolemansa jälkeen ylösnousemuksen taivaaseen (1. Pietarin kirje 1:3, 4). Sen jälkeen kun heidät on valittu, heidän täytyy edelleen pitää uskonsa vahvana ja käytöksensä puhtaana, jotteivät he menettäisi tulevaa taivaallista palkintoaan (Efesolaisille 5:5; Filippiläisille 3:12–14).
He toimivat Jeesuksen kanssa kuninkaina ja pappeina tuhat vuotta (Ilmestys 5:9, 10; 20:6). He muodostavat ”uudet taivaat” eli taivaallisen hallituksen, joka hallitsee ”uutta maata”, maanpäällistä yhteiskuntaa. He auttavat ihmisiä niin, että nämä saavat elää sellaisissa suurenmoisissa olosuhteissa kuin Jumala alun perin tarkoitti (Jesaja 65:17; 2. Pietarin kirje 3:13).
Raamattu osoittaa, että taivaalliseen elämään herätetään 144000 ihmistä (Ilmestys 7:4). Ilmestyksen 14:1–3:ssa kerrotaan apostoli Johanneksen saamasta näystä, jossa ”Karitsa seisoi Siioninvuorella ja hänen kanssaan sataneljäkymmentäneljätuhatta”. Tässä näyssä ”Karitsalla” tarkoitetaan kuolleista herätettyä Jeesusta (Johannes 1:29; 1. Pietarin kirje 1:19). ”Siioninvuori” edustaa korotettua asemaa, joka on Jeesuksella ja hänen 144000 hallitsijatoverillaan (Psalmit 2:6; Heprealaisille 12:22).
Niistä, jotka ovat ”kutsuttuja ja valittuja” hallitsemaan Kristuksen kanssa Valtakunnassa, käytetään ilmausta ”pieni lauma” (Ilmestys 17:14; Luukas 12:32). Siitä voidaan päätellä, että heitä on suhteellisen vähän verrattuna Jeesuksen lampaiden koko joukkoon (Johannes 10:16).
