>>16221290You doing barbell or dumbbell? I'm a bigger guy and prior to the gyms closing down in 2020 I was fixated on pushing my barbell. I did all sorts of crap. Smolov Jr for OHP was exhausting. In the end I got my 225 but it was a miserable grind and I plateaued hard and never got more than one rep. When the lockdown hit I had nothing but dumbbells at home, so I pushed those. Only once a week. It's a lot harder to track the dumbbells properly than the barbell. Went back after like 16 months and kept going with dumbbell and just recently added barbell back. I was shocked to find it was better than before. I hadn't tried 225 in 2 years, and I'd only done 3 barbell workouts prior to Monday, and the first rep was actually quite easy. I ended up hitting 5 sets of 4 at 225. I was shocked but pretty happy. Same with bench and incline. Sometimes you need to mix it up, step away from the barbell for a time and come back after doing some high weight high rep dumbbell. You'll see each are is operating more effectively than it was before. I know dumbbells can be expensive, but do you have a Crunch closeby? They're cheap and if you're just going in there to do a few dumbbell exercises and not find for cages, it's a good investment.
