yeah. speaking of brute forcing i think i'm going to immediately drop pro tools. it seems to have the problem i was afraid of where it's way more powerful than i need and it ends up making even simple things impossibly confusing.
really i just want to have distinct instrument tracks that don't sound completely horrific and be able to write for them with a piano roll. there are a small handful of luxuries past that but basically anything else is just going to confuse my or complicate the process of doing what i actually want to do
for example with pro tools it's a finicky 5 step process to add any instrument and as far as i can tell there's no way to write for guitar without just playing the guitar
