I myself dabble a little in ecological "accidents", such as planting Japanese knotweed around critical areas of government buildings, of course around places they never look.
If you guys are looking for something different, plant reeds! Fish, frogs and a whole bunch of instects are more reliant on them than you might think, and no city planner ever thinks of the reeds. Pic related is one of the first Dutch cities to actually go ahead with "reed planning"
