>>21269697I think the term originated in the 80s in ‘hardcore rock’ then as time when on it evolved into other rock/metal adjacent genres like metalcore, deathcore, mathcore, etc. Eventually the internet picked it up and started adding ‘core’ to the end of anything that went hard even if it wasn’t rock/metal. But hey that’s just a theory, a core theory.
