Hopelessness drives us to do horrible things to try and relieve it, often driving us into other sins. The sin I see gloom drive people into the most is either excessive drinking, anger or sloth. And when you are consumed by another sin you are unable to help others or yourself which just further drives gloom into you in a cycle. Of course there is a difference in saying something, knowing something and truly feeling it.

Although there are a few games myself where observing and learning about them is more enjoyable then actually playing them.
