Since it hasn't really been mentioned...I think the current theory is that human civilization is much older than we are led to believe, and a very advanced civilization existed during the previous ice age. During the previous ice age sea levels were 400ft lower than they are currently an there was a 2 mile think ice sheet covering the upper portion of North America. 12,800 years ago the Younger Dryas happened, there is alot of evidence to support that there was a cosmic impact into the North American ice sheet at this time, which instantly melted inconceivable amounts of water off the glacial sheet which in turn caused catastrophic flooding. There is plenty of geological evidence to support flooding happening along with oral traditions of the great flood from literally every human culture. Sea levels also rose 400ft, and as is today, the largest human population centers are located in coastal regions. All this evidence ends up being right around the same time frame as the Atlantis myth, plus coupled with archeological sites like Göbekli Tepe, which are dated at least 10,000-12,000 years, really push back the time frame of human civilization.
