Also those straws are not the most reliable solution. The perforated inner tubes can clog/fail. My backup is a ceramic pump, along with my gravity system. Both are rated for 10K gallons. Also batteries have come a long way since the 60's. I keep solar in case fuel becomes a problem so that I can keep things like my radios, thermals, lights, etc charged.
