need to remove old baseboard? score top edge with razor knife. using a sharp hatchet, drive the sharp edge down the wall and into the minisule cap between the baseboard and wall- push handle away from yourself. baseboard pries off easily.
need to remove drywall from solid beam? whack at it with hatchet, then get under a broken off piece and pry up.
need to cut an iron pipe out of a stud? hack at it with a hatchet.
even better than a hatchet: estwing tomahawk. i use this think nearly every day. picrel.
