The homeownership rate in the US has been consistently in the 60-70% range because about a 1/3 of the population are poorfags who don't earn enough money to own a house.
If you want to own a house, you simply need to figure out how to get a much better job or make significantly more money than you are now. That's all there is to it.
Otherwise you are going to be limited to renting less desirable housing options and/or having roommates.
