I met Mary in 8th grade at a school dance. Mary had been taking dance classes and doing dance competitions since she was 8. Most of my moves came from a console dancing game, but since I was nearly the only guy dancing without a date, she danced with me. She taught me to slow dance and ballroom steps, then she proxied her best friend Cassandra in so she could learn too. I never did ask Mary out though, every time I was around her I got so nervous I could barely speak. However, she made it clear she wasn't interested in dating anyone and wanted to just be friends.
