okay so as you are aware the metric system is based on the concept of 10s. centimeter, decimeter and all that. Very useful for things like math and science which is important for advancement of human growth. However the misconsception that the imperial system is just based on arbitrary numbers is incorrect. Throughout history things like cups, teaspoons and pounds were units of measurements for things that humans needed such as flour, water and oil. teaspoons. Many units such as paces, has been phased out for not being useful anymore but some still are. For example 5 pound bags of potatos. The right amount for the average family. 5 pounds in kilograms is 2.26 which is a lot less nice number. The imperial system is useful for cooking and construction as it's ingrained of how much a human needs of anything. now obviously it REALLY doesn't matter, we have calculators and simple math is easier than ever. but it's in the nature of human to not add unessicary steps. America uses metric for math and science typically. It's a blend you get it? We don't like making things unnecessarily complicated
