Why America sucks:
Obesity: Nearly two-thirds of adult Americans are overweight or obese. This makes it the fattest country in the world. Is this any surprise though in the home of fast food? What’s interesting though is that the level of overweight people has remained pretty consistent since the 60s. It’s actually the rate of obesity that’s more than doubled.
Consumerism:Americans love stuff… and a lot of it. Combine this with irresponsible banks that will lend people money without any good reason and it can lead to an almighty mess. But Americans firmly believe that the possession of things truly validates their success, status and placement upon earth. And if they go into a huge amount of debt to prove this success… so be it.
Fast Food Culture:Americans love fast food… so much so that 10% of their disposable income on fast food every year. More than 46 million people a day eat at McDonald's… that’s more than the entire population of Spain and the French fry is the most eaten vegetable in the entire country. The industry is worth $100 billion is the U.S… which could stop world hunger for several years.
Education: American’s don’t read good. The literacy rates among fourth grade students in America are shocking. Sixty six percent of all U.S. fourth graders scored "below proficient". As for math and science, in a 2012 analysis of student performance the U.S. was placed 27th out of 34 countries in math performance and 20th in science performance.
Gun Crime: Gun crime in America is extraordinarily high when compared to other countries with similar gun laws. In America there are 10.3 gun related deaths per 100,000 people every year. Canada has almost identical gun laws yet the rate there are a mere 2.22. The worst state for gun crime is Washington DC which has over twice as many gun related homicides than any other state.
