>>15572475Yeah, it's very bizarre when you go from SA, SA2, Heroes, STH, and finally to 06. During ones first play through of the classic Sonic games the path taken is always treacherously fast and linear but upon sequential playthrough new routes are discovered to reach the goal post the most quickest and efficiently. In contrast, the 3D games level designs sometimes feel claustrophobic with narrow routes leaving no room to take advantage of the engines physics neither do the designs take advantage of Sonics signature ability : the spindash. The alternative routes are always limited or all lead to the same scripted path discouraging replays due to fatigue or lack of curiosity.
