I may be in a position with the companies I work for to save several million dollars over the next few years. In the event I get that money, I’ve decided that I’d rather sink it into a 30 acre homestead before the stock market or anything else, with the following amenities:
> renewable power
> gardens which provide all basic plant needs, I love sweet peppers
> goats, chickens, horses, and maybe cows for dairy and meat
> well for clean water
> easy access to hunting and fishing, on or off site
To do this, I’ll be researching the best places in the US to settle in, so I can be ready when the time comes. After staying the night with a buddy and his with a treehugger friend who housesat for a living in Berkeley, I actually got turned onto permaculture, and I’ll be studying its methods too (who knew roasties could provide benefit, huh)
I love gardens too, I’ll be experimenting at my apartment, and I’m designing a mini Persian garden in a CAD program so I know how to do the brickwork
