A villain can be a completely amoral psychopath but they still have to be entertaining to watch and a good driver of the plot to work.
Stella's place in the story however really needed her to be nuanced and human for her to work.
As of now, her place in the story being to absolve Stolas of guilt makes the story much flatter. It could have been
