Early christians had the same reputation as the far left of today because they're basically the same slave ideology. Blessed are the oppressed, don't slut shame (stone) prostitutes, rich people can't go to heaven, etc. They're literally the jews who found their own tradition too restrictive and "problematic". They were especially known for using their concept of the afterlife and equality in their "kingdom of heaven" communist utopia that was just around the corner to justify orgy feasts and other excesses. It was a real problem until the leaders cracked down and swung hard in the opposite direction towards repression and asceticism. It's hilarious to read greek and roman accounts of christians when they were becoming mainstream. They sound just like our modern climate-apocalypse tranny death cult.
