By the time you can even really begin to posit that you're being controlled and lied to, you are likely fully withing your "assigned role" within the hive.
At that point, resisting the hive's information and directives can feel existentially threatening to the drone. This is because the drone only knows the hive, and believes it will die without the hive, or at the very least, lack purpose.
As such, you can tell the drone any sort of fairy tale or nonsense and it will basically be forced to swallow it because it believes that rejecting it will be certain death.
