>>2899232To imply that they don't care about its state is insulting to them because they feel that they've contributed to the lion's share of content, which is why they're so ornery whenever threads like these occur. If an original mascot is to come out, it needs to do so organically and in an environment that actually encourages OC and not has people up in arms at OC producers because of their preferences.
The flag Argentina posts is a meme, but the 100s of flags that have been made as a response could each be seen as a valid flag of /bant/ to those willing to use them. /bant/ is never going to agree on a single design and the OP flag is frequently used due to familiarity, but it is up to you to chose which flag you thinks represents your /bant/. Personally, I like the Nato-styled six-point wings on a field of blue, as I feel that represents /bant/ better than any other design as an international board while recognizing the board's beginnings.
And I disagree with /pol/ acceptance, for much the same reason of your fears of non-OC /bant/ memes. /pol/'s population has a lofty opinion of itself and a fringe group, the Kekistanis, literally do believe in board manifest destiny and have shown what lengths they're willing to go to maintain it on /qa/, which made the mistake of humoring them. They are absolutely not to be trifled with, and any form of encouragement at all will only embolden them to claim a board that they view is rightfully theirs at the expense of the native population. It's not easy maintaining a constant cold shoulder, but it is in my opinion required if we are to keep /bant/'s identity unique. These are the same people who fought a multi-billion political party to a standstill and trying to engage them with arguments is futile.
Please, understand that the position you stand in is one that has been abused constantly by figures who do not want to see /bant/ improved. The only way you will reach its heart is through mutual understanding.
