I just had an eye exam and it turns out I have scarring on my retina and am at risk of a retinal detachment, which means I would permanently lose vision in one eye. I am scheduled for eval and then surgery on Tuesday. I won't know for sure until then, but I was told that the surgery carries risk of permanent vision loss as well. Naturally I can't drive afterward, regardless of how it goes.
I told my mom about this yesterday and do you know what the first thing she said to me was?
>I can't drive you to the hospital. I'm busy all week.Mind you, she is retired. She literally has zero responsibilities. And I didn't even ask her nor hint that I wanted her to drive me. I was planning to call an Uber.
I explained the above to her, and then her next response was
>I'm taking the dog to the groomer and need to be there in about 20 minutes.In other words, I had to wrap up the conversation about my possible PERMANENT vision loss, because her fucking dog needs to look pretty?!
I just told her to pray for me and hung up. But yes, I was shook. This is my mom btw. I just planned a huge party for her on mother's day. We have a good relationship. But I don't rate higher than her fucking dog's coat maintenance.
When you're unattractive, even your mom doesn't give a shit about you. And no, I didn't make this up. It just happened. I wish I was exaggerating. She still acts nice and says the right things, but when push comes to shove, she only cares about herself. Even her own son is looked upon as a burden, not with love.
