Mine are just a bit extreme in that because I never was troublesome and because they're neglectful. Moreover, it likely doesn't even cross people's minds that I'd drop out. They don't believe it for pretty much the same reason you don't. It doesn't seem believable and I don't blame people for seeing it that way.
