I can't honestly say things will necessarily improve. In fact they may well, or even likely will, get worse.
The best you can do is nurture some little seed of hope and keep as positive as possible - work to constantly expand your perspective, because perspective and knowledge, while very often painful to attain, can bring some peace.
The reality is that we were always all in a 'desert' in some sense, the notion that we'd all get beautiful, loving partners and have happy, fulfilled lives was probably always a lie. There are all sorts of lies we're sold, like the notion that we could reasonably hope to 'die peacefully in our sleep' or whatever, when the reality for most people is much more humiliating and painful. Born in a slightly different era and you may have been blown to bits on a battlefield still filled with delusional romantic notions about getting to go back home and be greeted as a hero or at least a "real boy", when in reality you'd just be completely forgotten. I guess this is happening in Ukraine.
See with perspective you might also have more compassion for yourself, seeing that every step IS harder so you can't judge yourself by the success of others who simply walked into things. With such a perspective you might be able to build yourself up, and in the process maybe your struggle ends up being worth more than anything they could have achieved, even if what you acheive seems small and petty.
Don't use language like "subhuman". You're almost at Wizardhood, fren. Don't you want to gain those powers?
In the end, there's someone who's 'watching' us all and who has great compassion and love. His love endures forever and even those who to us seem long dead will experience it someday.
