There isn't too much concrete proof of it happening but a tradition in east asia used to be tying a person in place while letting a bamboo shoot slowly start to grow right under them. Bamboo grows pretty fast so in a few days the one tied up would end up being impaled from the bottom up by the sheer force of the plant. Sounds fun
