Alright, this is my final recommendation. I don't even know if it counts as a horror film, but this ended up being the most personally disturbing thing I've ever watched in my life.
>BLUE VELVET (1986)
For a little context, I am pretty much Gnostic in my spiritual beliefs and I was peaking on an edible when I first watched this just a few months ago. Holy fuck... Dennis Hopper portrays evil so stunningly in this film, I was shocked and scared every time he started doing his thing. This is such a dark film and it's hard to explain without sounding like a complete schizo, but David Lynch's films always give me a feeling of existential dread, especially when I watch them while high. It's never a good time, and this one was the worst. At one point, I actually believed this film was a personal attack on me, a direct threat from the demiurge himself saying, "Don't fuck with me" as the scene with Frank Booth threatening the main character felt so personal and real. And the end, the destruction of evil, is so fucking bitter. I don't want to say anything more, because I don't want to spoil the film for those who haven't seen it, and I'm not even sure most people who will watch this will even get the same thing I got out of watching it, but knowing what it really means absolutely terrified me more than any horror film in this entire thread.
