The movie was fantastic. I would be lying if I said my expectations weren't low, but I'm pleased to say the movie didn't fail like it absolutely could have. The cinematography was a treat, I really enjoyed how creatively this movie was filmed, and it helps to convey Arthur's feelings without having to spoon feed the audience. The violence was visceral, and carried weight in ever scene it was in, and the story's descent into madness was very well paced. My only gripes are some odd music choices and a predictable twist that blew its load too early, but other than that the movie was a real wonderful, I recommend the experience.
I very much enjoyed the fact that the joker wasn't cucked into being a political symbol. True to his nature, the movie can be summed up in his most poignant line:
