asians certainly do seem to love their random english. hwaiting at least i feel is recognized as a meme word, english slowly corrupting the entire japanese language is a really hot button topic right now. it's genuinely starting to get to a point where there are words that japanese zoomers know in english but not japanese
experienced this firsthand as well. there goes an old meme that if you can't remember a word in japanese all you have to do is say the english word with japanese pronunciation and 9/10 times you'll be understood, so that's my go to whenever i do talk to japanese people and it has a 100% success rate so far, though the sample size isn't huge yet admittedly
