if you ever had long hair and suddenly decided to cut it, you'd notice that you got a lot of dandruff, especially if you did it in warm season. That's because long hair kept your scalp humid and damp, just like feet of athletes are.
I bought generic Dove anti-dandruff shampoo and to noones surprise it didn't work. Then I added strong antifungal spray for feet to the shampoo, like 5ml per 100ml of shampoo. 50% reduction in dandruff after 3 showers.
It's true that shampoo might contribute to dandruff since shampoo is a degreaser and as you know, grease is hydrophobic, it repels water. Without water present there wont be fungi to feed on dead skin and so no dandruff, but with grease your hair look horrible.
Solution is to introduce something with strong antifungal properties to your shampoo. Be careful though not to add too much because products for feet usually are much stronger and might irritate skin on your head.
