>>4191811Well, a medical center, but I get your point. However, I disagree. Well designed architecture is not something you just place in downtowns for tourists to come and take pictures of. Good architecture are well designed buildings with functionality as well as beauty and defines space. If 90% of Texas is suburban wasteland, you can't then say that the other 10% is really representative of Texas.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not dissing Texas, or even the US as a whole. We have the same exact problems in Norway too, not so much in the rest of Europe. I just think we need to stop building crappy strip malls and ugly soulless office towers, because that's not what I want to think of as home. Think about it. The soldiers that go spilling their blood to (supposedly) protect the US, or Norway or wherever. Their last thought of home is the curb cut between the Chuck E. Cheese and the Target store. Is that good enough for westerners? Fuck, maybe it is. Maybe I'm just crazy.
